Red Bull schedules monthly readings
The Red Bull Theater has announced its season of Revelation Readings, which take place at 7:30 p.m. Mondays at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher St.). The readings are of classical plays or newer plays focused on the classics. The readings start on Nov. 12 with The Spanish Tragedy by Thomas Kyd. Thereafter follow The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson (Dec. 10), a look at First Folio assemblers John Heminges and Henry Condell; The Shadow of a Doubt by Edith Wharton (Jan. 28); Don Carlos by Friedrich Schiller (Feb. 25); Sir Patient Fancy by Aphra Behn (March 25); A Most Dangerous Woman by Kathy Tempelsman (April 15), about the life of George Eliot; Shrew!, Amy Freed’s adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew (May 13); and The Alchemist, a commissioned adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher of Ben Jonson’s play (June 24). On July 15 the Red Bull will host its 9th Annual Short New Play Festival.
