Other
new reviews include:
Deep
Dish Cabaret, an underground, Saturday night
extravaganza that takes place once every two or three weeks
featuring some of the zaniest and unpredictable performers
New York City has to offer.
Dirty Works, produced
by Stiff Upper Lip, a British theater company specializing
in imports from London's Fringe, is a dark comedy about
hard drugs and hard sex in London's slums.
Loose
Knit, war of the sexes, unemployment,
loneliness, adultery and dysfunctional families are only
a few of the themes in this craftily rigged comedy about
five thirty-something New York City women who come together
to knit as their lives unravel.
The Magnificent Mr. Vincent,
a new play by Jonathan Calindas about being twenty-something
in America in the beginning of the new century. It follows
the story of Sam, the idealistic lead singer-songwriter
for the college garage band, "The Pedestrians,"
as he tries to find a place in society that he can live
with.
Too Much
Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, with
its ever-changing "menu" of plays is an attempt
to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes. Each short play is written
by a performer, honed by the ensemble, and randomly collaged
with twenty-nine other plays through high-energy audience
participation.
