Deidre McFadyen is a writer for the New York Teacher, the biweekly newspaper of the United Federation of Teachers. She has previously been a reporter at The Chief, an independent labor weekly in the city, and a magazine editor at In These Times and NACLA Report on the Americas. Raised in Western Canada, she has master?s degrees in English literature and journalism. Her latest project is a play about U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers that she is writing with two friends.
