SYNOPSIS: Lonely undead Romanian lothario seeks bride. Race and gender unimportant.
Matthew Hancock’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula tells the mythic story of Count Dracula and his victims through the eyes of his paramour, Mina, in a highly theatrical presentation. Combining stylized action sequences, video projections and dialogue peppered with a dose of contemporary pop-culture, this is the Dracula for the urban hipster of 2005. Running at a brisk, action packed 75 minutes this Dracula was inspired by the music of David Bowie and the comic book art of Mike Mignola (Hellboy).
This is a production for those who get irony, appreciate top-flight entertainment and love being electrified by theatre.
CAST and CREW: DT|NY (Directors theatre\new york) was spawned by 5 artists: Ted Sluberski (Artistic Director), Amanda Charlton, Michael Cohen, Dan Tirone and Michael Natter, who all worked with each other at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Collectively, for six seasons they ran the festivals must- see WTF Workshop. They wanted to create a company that fostered the creativity, ideas, and collaborations of the stage director to create unique and exciting theatrical experiences. They are the only company in the United States that promotes the work of Directors above any other kind of theatre artist.
